Harthaven Artists

From the beginning, Harthaven has been a community enlivened by the presence of many artists. Among our early painters were Sandy Low, Virginia Low, Martha Moore, Louis Fusari, William Abbe, Martha Pease Bronson, Charles Laroche and Mary Stevens. Pare Lorentz, who purchased the Walter Hart home in 1968, was one of the world’s most noted documentary filmmakers. His son Pare Jr., also a filmmaker, continues to live in Harthaven. Presently, Andrew Moore, Rebecca Everett, Marni Pease and Mila Cenkl are painting in Harthaven. Heather Goff Moore and Ally Moore are graphic artists (Ally is the Art Director for Martha’s Vineyard Magazine), Sam Low is a writer and filmmaker, and Martha Shaw is a video producer. Allen Moore Jr., Stephanie Mashek, Bob Kuehn and Ken Maclean are architects.
